KU Soccer Team Earns NSCAA Academic Honors

LAWRENCE, Kan. – For the ninth-consecutive season, the Kansas soccer team has earned a Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) it was announced Friday.

Head Coach Mark Francis’ squad posted a team GPA of 3.19 during the 2011-12 academic year, marking the ninth-straight season the Jayhawks have earned a 3.0 grade point average or better.

The Jayhawks were one of 497 women’s soccer teams (NCAA all divisions) honored by the NSCAA and joined eight of the nine Big 12 squads which were recognized. KU boasted a record-tying 11 Academic All-Big 12 selections this season, while 16 of the 23 student-athletes on the 2011-12 roster boasted a cumulative GPA above 3.0 throughout the academic year.

Kansas finished the season at 10-8-2, falling to Texas Tech in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Soccer Championship.
