The University of Kansas men’s golf team signed Nate Barbee from Dakota Dunes, S.D. and Blake Groux from Omaha, Neb. to join the team next year. Both Barbee and Groux are defending state high school champions from their respective states.

Barbee, who hails from Dakota Valley High School, currently ranks among the top 10 players in the American Junior Golf Association rankings. He won a 2005 PGA Junior Series Event and is a two-time winner on the FCW Tour.

Groux attends Creighton Prep High School and was the high school teammate of current Jayhawk standout Bobby Knowles. He helped lead his high school to three consecutive Nebraska state high school championships and won a 2005 Collegeiate Preview Series Event.

“We are really pleased to add both Nate and Blake to our program,” said KU head coach Ross Randall. “They are both current high school champions and had very good junior and amateur careers. We are delighted that they choose Kansas and were both heavily recruited by several Big 12 schools. They should be a big help to our program. Both of them are great students as well with GPA’s over 3.8.”
