The University of Kansas softball staff will offer six different Winter Clinics in 2007, including Advanced Hitting, Power Pitching and Catching Skills. The sessions will be held Jan. 28 and Feb. 3 on the University of Kansas campus.

Pitching

This year we will be holding two specialized pitching clinics that will be taught by Head Coach Tracy Bunge and assisted by several members of the KU pitching staff. Power Pitching will focus on the mechanics of the fastball and increasing velocity and will also teach the basics of the change up. Throwing Pitches will break down the drop, rise, and curve. Both sessions will break down the mechanics of the pitching motion and the drills necessary to build effectiveness. Pitchers must bring their own catchers.

Hitting

Assistant coaches Jen Sewell and Christi Musser will be leading two winter hitting clinics. The first will be Hitting Mechanics. This clinic will break down the mechanics of the swing to help build power and efficiency. This clinic will be offered to ages 12 & up. Our second hitting session offered will be Advanced Hitting. This clinic is work on hitting both inside and outside pitches and also the change up and other moving pitches. This clinic is offered to ages 14 & up.

Defense

The defensive clinic will allow those participants to learn the key fundamentals of their defensive position. Campers will be split into groups; outfield and infield. The infield will then break up further into middle infield and corner positions. Players will work with KU coaches Tracy Bunge, Jen Sewell and Christi Musser. This is a clinic with advanced drills and concepts and will be offered for ages 14 & up. If you are a catcher, please sign up for our Catching Skills clinic.
