Kansas Soccer Honored for Academics by NSCAA

Nov. 17, 2010

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Kansas soccer has earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s Team Academic Award for the eighth straight season.

Boasting a cumulative GPA of 3.05, head coach Mark Francis’ team was one of 436 NCAA women’s soccer programs to earn the award, which is given annually to NCAA Division I, II and III teams that post a GPA of 3.00 or higher. The Jayhawks have now won the award in each of the last eight seasons.

This is the second time this season Kansas soccer has been awarded for its success in the classroom, as nine Jayhawks landed on the Big 12 All-Academic team earlier this month.

The Jayhawks ended the 2010 season Oct. 29, with a 3-0 win over SIU-Edwardsville.
