Behind a game-high 26 points from freshman Darrell Arthur, the University of Kansas defeated Towson, 87-61, Sunday night at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas improved to 2-1 on the season while Towson suffered its first loss of the season, dropping to 2-1.

Arthur and sophomore Brandon Rush started the game scoring KU’s first 17 points. Kansas scored 23 first half points off 12 Towson turnovers to help build a 42-25 halftime lead.

Arthur finished the contest shooting 10-for-12 from the field while pulling down eight rebounds and blocking three Tiger shots. Rush (13), sophomores Mario Chalmers (15) and Julian Wright (12) were among four Jayhawks to finish in double-figures. Eleven of Wright’s 12 points came in the second half.

The Jayhawks finished the game shooting 56-percent from the field. Kansas knocked down 6-of-18 from behind the arc and 17-of-22 free throws. KU held its largest lead of 29 point with 3:34 left in the contest.

Kansas will return to action Tuesday, Nov. 21 against Tennessee State. Game time is set for 7 p.m at Allen Fieldhouse.
