KU’s Win…
-Makes Kansas 4-1 or better for the sixth time in the last seven seasons
-Extends the Kansas-Saint Louis series in favor of KU, 13-3
-Makes Kansas 7-1 all-time in the Edward Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic
-Gives Kansas its first in-season tournament title since the 2010 Las Vegas Invitational (KU went on to win the 2011 Big 12 Championship later that season)
-Makes KU 16-4 in games played at the Sprint Center
-Gives Kansas an all-time record of 201 -78 in games played in Kansas City, Mo.
-Improves Bill Self’s record to 273-54 at Kansas and 480-159 overall
-Makes Kansas 2,074-807 all-time

TEAM NOTES:
Kansas extended its lead to double-digits at the 9:50 minute mark in the first half and remained ahead by double-figures until the 3:51 mark when SLU senior forward Cody Ellis cut it to nine, 65-56.

-Saint Louis’ first bucket went in off the hands of freshman G Ben McLemore, but the goal was credited to SLU’s Cory Remekun.

-KU was out-rebounded in the first half, 17-16, but finished the night with the slight edge on the boards, 33-30.

-The Jayhawks tied a season-low set the night before (vs. Washington State) with nine turnovers.

-Kansas went 18-for-22 from the free-throw line and completed the two-day stay in Kansas City a strong 38-for-44 (86 percent).

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
-Senior G Travis Releford was named the Edwards Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic Tournament MVP. He scored a team-high 40 points in the last two days.

-Senior C Jeff Withey and freshman G Ben McLemore were each named to the All-Tournament Team.

Releford scored 21 of the team’s 36 first-points and finished with a season-high 23 points.

-After not recording a three yet this season prior to arriving at the Sprint Center on Monday, Releford now has hit multiple threes in the last two games (2 vs. WSU, 4 vs. SLU).

-Releford broke his previous career-high in three-pointers made (3, twice) with four in the first half alone.

-Releford was the only Jayhawk to attempt a three-pointer in the first half (4-for-6).

-Withey’s 25 points tied a career high previously set at Baylor (2/8/12).

-Withey added a season-high in blocks (7) and steals (2).

-Senior G Elijah Johnson’s nine assists tied a career high previously set in his freshman season against Alcorn State (12/2/09).

-Sophomore G Naadir Tharpe hit a three-pointer with 15:23 remaining in the second half. He is the only Jayhawk with a made three-pointer in every game this season.

-Freshman F Perry Ellis played less than 10 minutes for the first time this season (9).
