Kansas Signee Named First Team All-American

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas softball NLI signee Lexi Bryant was recently named an ESPN RISE High School All-American.

The Orland Park, Ill., native, who will start her Jayhawk career in the 2011-12 academic year, led Carl Sandburg High School to its first softball state championship in 2010 with a .504 batting average, 15 home runs and 46 RBI, all school records. A 5-foot-6 catcher, Bryant was chosen as the Illinois Athlete of the Year in her junior campaign and was a part of the Eagles’ conference championship teams in 2008 and 2009.

Bryant will join fellow signees Chanin Naudin (Princeton, Texas), Alicia Pille (Nevada, Texas), Cassen Salamone (Spring, Texas) and Maddie Stein (El Reno, Okla.) on the KU softball team in 2011-12.
