LAHAINA, Hawaii –

The <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>University of Kansas men’s basketball team defeated Chaminade (0-3 overall), 102-54 on Wednesday. The win moves the Jayhawks to 2-2 overall and gives them a seventh place finish at the EA Sports Maui Invitational.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

The Jayhawks held a 46-29 lead at halftime after sophomore forward C.J. Giles led Kansas with 18 points on perfect 9-for-9 shooting. The Seattle, Wash., native tied former KU great Mark Randall with the most consecutive baskets made in a game.

Kansas continued to build its lead in the second half by going 6-for-11 from behind the arch, and 10-for-11 from the charity stripe. The Jayhawks outscored the Silverswords 56-25 in the second half en route to the victory.

The Jayhawks were led by Giles with 21 points and nine rebounds, while freshman Brandon Rush chipped in 17 to go with his six boards.

Kansas will next be in action on Dec. 1 to take on Nevada. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence.
