Nov. 26, 2011

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On a cool, windy Saturday afternoon, Kansas’ defense provided a majority of the scoring in the first half as the Jayhawks lead Missouri, 10-3 at halftime in the Border Showdown game at Arrowhead Stadium. KU’s secondary intercepted three passes in the first half, including one that junior Bradley McDougald returned 57-yards for the only touchdown of the half.

The second interception of the game, by sophomore Greg Brown, led to a 33-yard field goal by Ron Doherty. On the offensive side of the ball, the Jayhawks could not get in a rhythm as they managed only 60 yards of total offense. Freshman running back Tony Pierson led the Jayhawks with 24 yards rushing on five carries.

Missouri quarterback James Franklin had a rough first half as he threw three interceptions, was sacked and fumbled once. Franklin finished 7-for-14 for 52 yards and another 29 yards on the ground. Wide receiver T.J. Moe hauled in three catches for 20 yards to lead the Tigers.
