Nov. 30, 2005

CLEVELAND, Ohio –

On Monday, Nov. 22, former KU All-American and current Cleveland Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden, along with the Cleveland Indians’ C.C. Sabathia, handed out Thanksgiving meals to 250 families in need at Bethany Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio.

Prior to handing out turkeys, Gooden spoke to the crowd about the importance of showing thanks this time of year. “I feel very blessed and fortunate to be able to give back to those who are in need,” said Gooden. All 250 families received a 10-12 lbs turkey and fixings.

This was Gooden’s second event of the holiday season. On Sunday, Nov. 21, Gooden fed 250 families in need at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Orlando, Fla. Although Drew was not in attendance, he sent a taped video message to the families wishing them a happy Thanksgiving.
