Kansas Soccer Earns NSCAA Academic Award

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

For the seventh consecutive season, the Kansas soccer team has earned a Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Head Coach Mark Francis’ squad posted a team GPA of 3.11 during the 2008-09 academic year, marking the seventh-straight season the Jayhawks have earned a 3.0 grade point average or better.

The Jayhawks were one of 326 women’s soccer teams (NCAA all divisions) honored by the NSCAA. KU boasted eight Academic All-Big 12 selections this season, while 14 of the 20 returning letterwinners have a cumulative GPA above 3.0.

Kansas finished the season at 12-8-2, falling in overtime to Missouri in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Soccer Championship.
