KU's Berry Named a Top 100 Performer

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After a record-breaking season, Kansas soccer junior Whitney Berry has been honored as one of the top women’s soccer players in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer.com. The outlet announced its list of upperclassmen top 100 student-athletes with Berry ranked No. 97.

Berry became the Jayhawks’ single-season assist record holder in 2011 as her 13 helpers passed Hilla Rantala’s 10-year old school record of 12 set in 2001. The mark also ranked tied for seventh nationally while her 0.62 assists per game held the No. 7 spot among Division I players.

During the 2011 season, the Wichita, Kan., native helped the Jayhawks reach the postseason for the first time since 2008. Berry recorded a team-best 29 points and led the team with four goals and 13 points during conference play to earn All-Big 12 Second Team honors. She also succeeded in the classroom and was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team.
