Jayhawks Have Six Top Qualifiers in Friday Preliminaries

GAMBIER, Ohio – Following day two of competition at the Nike Cup- Kenyon Invitational, five Kansas swimmers were top qualifiers in the six-event preliminaries Friday. Sophomores Danielle Herrmann, Ashley Leidigh and Maria Mayrovich were among the five Jayhawks that finished first in their events.

Herrmann finished the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.93, while Leidigh raced to a top seed in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.32). Mayrovich swept both the 50 and 200-yard freestyle events with times of 23.57 and 1:51.04, respectively.

Freshman stand-out Ashley Robinson finished the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:31.72 with Herrmann not far behind in second-place (4:32.14).

Senior co-captain Jenny Short swam to a 57.17 in the prelims of the 100-yard backstroke. Short finished first in the finals of the event at the Terrapin Cup Invitational in College Park, Md., on Nov. 16-18.
