KU's Talib At Nagurski Banquet

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –

Kansas cornerback Aqib Talib is in <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Charlotte, N.C. as one of five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski award, which is given annually to the nation’s top defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

The awards banquet will take place at the Westin Hotel Monday night and features a keynote address by Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer.

Vying with Talib for the honor are OhioState linebacker James Laurinaitis, LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, Virginia defensive end Chris Long and South Florida defensive end George Selvie.

Talib, a junior from Richardson, Texas, recorded 61 tackles, four interceptions and 13 passes defended in 12 regular season games.
