KU's Beshears Named To Phil Steele Team

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas sophomore D.J. Beshears was named to the Phil Steele 2010 Postseason All-Big 12 Football team it was announced Thursday afternoon.

Beshears was tabbed as the third-team kickoff return specialist. The honor comes the same week he was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention by the league coaches at the same position.

Beshears was the only Jayhawk named to the magazine’s first, second and third team listings.

Beshears returned 36 kickoffs for a school-record 922 yards this season. His 25.6 average currently ranks 40th in the nation. He had a 96-yard return for a touchdown against New Mexico State.

This season Beshears also saw time at running back and wide receiver. He rushed 55 times for 213 yards and two scores and caught 10 passes for 69 yards and another touchdown. As a true freshman in 2009 Beshears started three games as a cornerback.
