Kansas Swimming and Diving Completes Day One at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. –

Nine Jayhawks made it to the finals in their respective events, as the University of Kansas swimming and diving team completed day one of the Georgia Invitational at Athens, Ga. KU is in fifth place with a combined score of 106 points.

In the 200-yard IM, senior Joy Bunting, junior Stephanie Payne and sophomore Brooke Brull placed in the finals. Bunting placed 10th (2:00.70), Payne took 13th (2:02.56), and Brull placed 21st (2:04.33).

Sophomore Rebecca Swank, freshman Morgan Sharp and junior Shannon Garlie also placed in the finals of the 500-yard freestyle, with Swank swimming into 18th (4:51.47), Sharp taking 19th (4:52.09) and Garlie placing 23rd (4:57.19).

On the diving side, sophomore Christy Cash placed fifth in the one-meter dive with 260.00 points, while freshman Alyssa Golden and sophomore Taylor Ilten placed 12th and 13th, respectively.
