Volleyball Signees Named Super-State First Team

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Two Kansas volleyball signees were honored as some of the top players in the state of Nebraska. Future Jayhawks Chelsea Albers and Sara McClinton were both named to the Nebraska Super-State First Team, it was announced by the Lincoln Journal Star.

Albers, a two-time first-team super-stater, led Papillion-La Vista High School to the 2010 Class A state tournament with a team-high 431 kills (.323 hitting efficiency), 422 digs and 85 ace blocks. The 6-1 outside hitter also helped the Monarchs to back-to-back state titles in 2007 and 2008 and led the state of Nebraska in kills during her junior season in 2009.

A 6-2 outside hitter, McClinton collected 76 kills in three matches at state to lead Millard North High School to a third-place finish. For the season, she had 425 kills, 77 ace blocks and 353 digs. McClinton was a member of the all-state honorable mention team in 2008 and 2009 and was also named a Fab 50 Sophomore by Sports Imports/Volleyball Magazine in 2008.

Albers and McClinton will begin their careers at Kansas beginning in the 2011-12 academic year.
