Kansas earned its second-straight NCAA Tournament bid when selections were announced on Nov. 28. The Jayhawks, who finished 19-12 overall in 2004, were one of seven teams from the Big 12 Conference to receive a bid. The Jayhawks were listed in the USA Today/CSTV Top 25 for four weeks this season with a program-best 21st ranking.

Lima Named First-Team All-Big 12
DALLAS – Kansas junior middle blocker Josi Lima was named First-Team All-Big 12 Conference for the third consecutive season on Nov. 28 by the league’s coaches.
Lima led KU with 3.64 kills and added 2.49 digs and 1.01 blocks per game. She was an AVCA First-Team All-Region selection in 2003 and the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year in 2002.

Lima now sits at sixth on the all-time kills list with 1,118 and is on track to break the career record (1,306) set by Sarah Rome.

Dorsey Becomes KU All-Time Digs Leader
With her 22 digs against Washington in the NCAA second round, senior libero Jill Dorsey surpassed Adrian Powell (1,325) to set a new Kansas career digs record (1,338).

In addition, Dorsey’s 483 digs this year is the second-best single season performance in program history. Dorsey also finished the regular season with a Big 12-leading 4.64 digs per game.

Correa the Comeback Kid
Despite an injury that kept her out of 16 matches last season, sophomore outside hitter Jana Correa provided a big boost for the Jayhawk offense this year. Correa notched double-digit kills in 19 of her 26 matches this season and led KU on seven occasions.

The Macapa, Brazil, native averaged 3.20 kills per game and hit at a .250 clip this season.

Sweep or Be Swept
Last season, Kansas played a grueling 12 of their 28 matches to five games. In 2004, 19 of the Jayhawks’ 27 matches have been played to just three games. KU is 13-6 in three-gamers this season including 7-6 in Big 12 action.

Six Jayhawks Named Academic All-Big 12
DALLAS–The Big 12 Conference named 52 student-athletes to the 2004 Volleyball Academic All-Big 12 Team on Nov. 9. Included in the KU honorees were first-team selections (3.2 GPA or better) Jana Correa, Lindsey Morris, Jamie Mathewson and Jill Dorsey, and second-teamers (3.00 to 3.19 GPA) Ashley Bechard and Ashley Michaels.
