Dec. 7, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. – A list of the top 100 freshmen soccer players was compiled by TopDrawerSoccer.com and Kansas newcomer Ingrid Vidal came in at No. 17. She was one of only three Big 12 Conference players named in the top 20.

Vidal had a record-setting season in 2011 as her 28 points were the most ever by a KU freshman. The Palmira, Colombia native led the Jayhawks and ranked third in the conference with 11 goals, which tie the fourth-best single-season total in Kansas history. She also earned All-Big 12 First Team accolades and was a Big 12 Newcomer of the Week twice during the season.

The Jayhawk forward helped guide Kansas to its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2008. Vidal is the second KU player named one of the top 100 players in the country as junior Whitney Berry was ranked No. 97 among upperclassmen by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
