Gordon Named Third Team All-American

Dec. 13, 2004

LAWRENCE, Kan. — University of Kansas sophomore cornerback Charles Gordon was named third team Associated Press All-America in a release issued by the AP on Monday. His selection gives KU a player on an AP All-America team for the first time since 1995 (OL Chris Banks, 3rd team). Gordon, a native of Carson, Calif., was one of two Division I players to collect an NCAA best seven interceptions during the 2004 season. Gordon also led the Big 12 with 15 passes defended (seven INTs, eight pass breakups).

“This is a great honor, not just for me, but also for my teammates,” Gordon said. “There are alot of deserving players for an honor such as this, and just to be considered for the team is very special to me.”

Other notable AP All-America selections in recent years include defensive tackle Dana Stubblefield (1992, 2nd team), placekicker Dan Eichloff (1991, 2nd team) and running back Tony Sands (1991, third team).
