Jayhawks Arrive in Dominican Republic

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas baseball landed in the Dominican Republic Saturday afternoon and held a 90-minute workout at the Royals Dominican Academy complex in Boca Chica before checking into their hotel.

The Jayhawks spent most of their first day of the eight-day tour of the Dominican Republic traveling as the team left the McCarthy Family Clubhouse at 3 a.m., Saturday morning. After making their connection in Atlanta at 9 a.m. CT, KU arrived in the capital city of Santo Domingo in the mid-afternoon.

From there, the team went straight to the Royals’ complex where it took batting practice on the field and set up different workout stations.

The Jayhawks will open games of their tour on Sunday as they take on the Royals’ Dominican Academy at 8:30 a.m., CT. KU will also play a game against a local amateur team in Boca Chica, before holding a skills clinic and handing out Jayhawk gear for youth players that live in the area.
