Kansas Athletics, Mangino Finalize Settlement Agreement
Dec. 16, 2009
LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas Athletics will pay former football coach Mark Mangino $3 million as part of a settlement agreement signed last week by both parties.
Mangino, who resigned earlier this month, had four years remaining on his contract, which was worth a total of $9.2 million ($2.3 million per year).
The settlement will be paid through private funds raised by Kansas Athletics; no state taxpayer funds will be used.
“We appreciate the eight years that Mark has given to rebuilding our football program,” Kansas Athletics Director Lew Perkins said. “He and the University have reached a mutually satisfactory agreement that reflects the appreciation we have for his efforts on behalf of Kansas Football.
