Women's Basketball Delivers Crimson & Blue Product To Hospital Patients For 18th-Straight Year

Dec. 17, 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

For the 18th-consecutive year, the University of Kansas women’s basketball team brightened the holidays of patients at LawrenceMemorialHospital. Coaches and team members visited the hospital Friday, distributing items collected during the “Crimson & Blue Holiday Project”. Head Coach Bonnie Henrickson and her staff led the team through the hospital.

During the visit, the team gave patients a variety of KU licensed product, including tee shirts, hats, sweat shirts, pennants and team posters.

KU’s Trademark Licensing Office collects the items from officially licensed vendors, who donate the product for this event each year. This year the licensees donated nearly 1300 items with a retail value of approximately $26,000, according to Paul Vander Tuig, KU’s Trademark Licensing Director.

“The visit to LMH is always a great day,” Vander Tuig said. “Kansas Athletics is once again pleased to be able to give something back to the community as we have in the past. And of course, the visit by Coach Henrickson and the team adds a little holiday spirit to a hospital stay.”

The trademark licensing program collects fees and royalties from manufacturers authorized to use KU’s trademarks commercially. Royalties distributed from the program are used to fund student and student-athlete scholarships at KU.
