Kansas Postgame Quotes
Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004 – vs. Dartmouth

Head Coach Bonnie Henrickson
On the game:
“We competed with great energy today. The bench was excited and that energy transferred onto the floor. We maximized possessions when we had the opportunity to run. We executed great screens, got a lot of uncontested looks and we knocked down some shots, which was big for us.”

On Erica Hallman:
“Erica had some great looks today and she is becoming very disciplined. She makes the right passing decisions. I know she is patting her teammates on the back for making the shots after her passes. She got her teammates open layups. She has a great ability to pass, great vision and is unselfish. Erica was very excited after the game and so were her teammates.”

On Taylor McIntosh:
“She is being more aggressive. We have talked with her in practice about taking more shots. We have made her shoot it more in practice so that in a game she doesn’t just pass it back out. If she doesn’t shoot it in practice, she will never shoot it in the game. I thought she took some good shots for herself.”

On playing Creighton:
“They are a very good team. They played Minnesota to within nine points. They shoot the ball very well and we are going to have to be better defensively. We start our preparation for them tomorrow afternoon. That game will be another opportunity for us to try to get better and win a game on the road.”

Junior Forward Crystal Kemp
On the game:
“We executed our plan offensively and defensively. We worked well as a team and played like we are supposed to. The shots were going in and I was getting open and doing what I was supposed to. I knew they were going to be double-teaming me, so coach got me ready by working on my baseline moves in practice.”

Junior Guard Erica Hallman
On the game:
“We came out in the second half with some defensive intensity and got some easy buckets off of turnovers. Today we were able to keep the lead and never look back. We executed the game plan and it worked. My teammates came out and were finishing shots which led to me getting quite a few assists.”

On the difference from this year’s game versus last season’s game against Dartmouth:
“We are more disciplined this year as far as running our sets all the way through. Our defensive intensity is a lot better than it was last year.”

On the team’s improvement:
“We have taken steps every game. If we played some of the teams we played earlier this year that we lost to, it would be a completely different game because we have taken a lot of steps forward since then.”

Junior Guard Kaylee Brown
On the difference between the team this year and last year:
“Last year when we played (Dartmouth), we didn’t have everyone on the same page. This year it is completely different. We all come together and flow well. We have a long way to go, but we have improved a lot.”

On her performance:
“I shot a lot better this game. I have been shooting with better balance because I have worked on that a lot in practice. It helps a lot when I get myself squared to the basket.”

Dartmouth Quotes

Head Coach Chris Wielgus
On the game:
“We have a very young team with no seniors. We started a very inexperienced team that just fell apart in the second half. We did not do a good job defensively and we did not take good care of the basketball. We are capable of playing better, but Kansas just had a great game plan. The biggest difference between last year and this year is that they are much better defensively. “

On playing in Allen Fieldhouse:
“We have played in many big venues in the past. Within the Ivy League itself we have a lot of big venues. This is a very nice facility but I don’t think it was the venue, I think it was Kansas’ team that made the difference.”

On Crystal Kemp:
“We saw (Crystal) Kemp last year when we beat them (Kansas) at our place, so we knew that she was good. She is strong and athletic and they use her very well. She is very good inside and just dominated the paint.”
