KU’s Win Over USC…
… Made Kansas 10-0 for the second-straight season and fourth time under Bill Self.
… Extended the nation’s longest home court winning streak to 65 games.
… Gave Kansas its sixth-straight win against USC and made the all-time series 10-5 in favor of Kansas.
… Made Kansas 3-0 against the Pac-10 this season and 10-4 against the conference in the Bill Self era.
… Gave KU an all-time record of 656-106 in Allen Fieldhouse, including 119-6 in the Bill Self era.
… Made Bill Self 212-43 while at Kansas, 419-148 all-time and 3-0 against USC in his career.
… Made Kansas 2,013-796 all-time.
Game Notes:
-Kansas freshman Josh Selby made his collegiate debut and scored 21 points. The last time a Jayhawk freshman scored 20-plus in their debut was Xavier Henry, who had 27 against Hofstra on Nov. 13, 2009.
-Selby’s five three-pointers matched Xavier Henry’s five threes in his collegiate debut.
-Kansas F Markieff Morris did not start for the first time this season.
-KU’s 67.7 percent from the free throw line is its best percentage since it shot 69 percent against Arizona (20-for-29) on Nov. 27 of this year.
-Kansas’ 38.9 percent shooting from the field was its lowest percentage since it shot 36.7 percent against Cornell on Jan. 6, 2010.
-Kansas F Thomas Robinson recorded four offensive rebounds, which matched a season high. His 10 points marked the fifth time this season that he has cracked double-digits in points.
-Kansas G Tyrel Reed’s five assists matched a career high, which he last accomplished against Syracuse on Nov. 25, 2008.
-Kansas F Travis Releford matched his career high with two steals, marking the fifth time in his career he has done this.
-KU set a season high with 21 free throws made, and tied a season high with 31 free throws attempted.
-The Jayhawks set season lows in points (70), points in a half (31 in the first), field goals (21), field goal percentage (38.9), two-point field goals (14), assists (12) and blocked shots (three). The team also tied a season low with 54 field goal attempts overall.
-KU held USC without a field goal over the last 2:19 of play.
-USC becomes the first opponent to out-shoot Kansas (45.1 percent to 38.9 percent) from the field this season.
-USC’s 48 second half points tied for the most in a half by a KU opponent this season. Longwood also scored 48 points in the second half in the season opener.
-Junior G Tyshawn Taylor scored seven points to give him 703 in his career.
-Senior G Brady Morningstar recorded his 100th steal with three thefts in the game.
