Behind 22 points from sophomore Mario Chalmers, No. 11 Kansas defeated Boston College, 84-66, Saturday afternoon at Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks improve to 10-2 on the season while the Eagles drop to 7-3.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Kansas pulled away from Boston College with a 24-4 run to end the first half and mount a 45-23 lead at the break. The Jayhawks largest lead of the contest was 26 points early in the second stanza.

Chalmers shot 9-for-16 from the field including 3-for-6 from behind the three-point arc. The guard also dropped four dimes and recorded five steals.

Sophomores Julian Wright (13) and Brandon Rush (15) and junior Darnell Jackson (11) rounded out KU players in double-figures. Wright added to his stat line with 12 rebounds, four assists and three steals. The Jayhawks out-rebounded the Eagles 43-34.

The Eagles fought back to make it a 13-point game with four minutes remaining but couldn’t push KU’s lead under double-digits. Sean Williams led Boston College with 19 points, 15 rebounds a seven blocks. Jared Dudley added 14 points and eight boards.

Kansas will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 28 when it hosts Detroit. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse.
