Jayhawks Arrive in Tempe For Insight Bowl

TEMPE, Ariz. – A warm welcome from a mariachi band and the yellow-jacketed Insight Bowl committee members greeted the Kansas Jayhawks football team which arrived in Tempe, Ariz. on Friday morning.

The Jayhawks are in town to prepare for their second bowl game in two years when they face Minnesota in the Insight Bowl on Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. Central time. The game will be televised on the NFL Network, as well as on WDAF (Fox 4) in Kansas City.

Mark Mangino’s team went through its first workout in the Phoenix area shortly after arrival and will continue to practice each day until the bowl game.

With players allowed to go home for Christmas from Dec. 23-25, 27 players were on the team plane, which chartered out of Topeka on Friday morning. The rest of the team arrived in Phoenix on their own.

The Jayhawks will practice each of the next three mornings at a local high school before holding a walk through at Sun Devil Stadium on Dec. 30.
