2008 Kansas Men's Basketball Holiday Clinic Held

Dec. 28, 2008

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Approximately 275 boys and girls found something fun and different to do during their holiday breaks from school on Sunday afternoon when they joined head coach Bill Self and the 2008-09 Kansas men’s basketball team for its annual holiday clinic.

The children, who ranged from third through eighth grade, ran through drills and fundamental basketball instruction with current KU coaches, players and staff. The clinic took place on Naismith Court in Allen Fieldhouse, in the Robinson Center, as well as at the Horejsi Family Athletic Facility, the practice gym for Kansas basketball.

In addition to basketball instruction, 2008 Bill Self Holiday Clinic participants were also given an official T-shirt, a 2008-09 Kansas basketball calendar and a ticket to the men’s game versus Albany on Dec. 30 at 8 p.m.

The Jayhawks’ head coach, Bill Self, addressed the crowd at the beginning of the clinic with instruction on basic basketball fundamentals including footwork, shooting, passing, defense and much more. At the conclusion of the event, the attendees were able to get autographs from the KU coaches and players.
