KU Women's Hoops Hosts Annual Holiday Clinic

Dec. 30, 2012

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Allen Fieldhouse was once again filled with activity Sunday afternoon; this time with the sound of nearly 300 basketballs bouncing on James Naismith Court, as the Kansas women’s basketball team hosted its annual Holiday Hoops Clinic.

Approximately 300 kindergarten through eighth graders participated in drills with current KU players and the coaching staff. The kids, along with some of their parents, rotated through seven stations that included instruction on passing, shooting, dribbling and defense. The two-hour clinic concluded with an autograph and picture session with KU players.

“It is a great time of the year and we always joke that when we get back (from break) we need to run the cookies off our players, so we then invite families to let us run the cookies off their kids,” head coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “It is another opportunity for us to give back and share what we love to do.”

No. 22/20 Kansas, 9-2 on the season, opens Big 12 Conference play Wednesday when the Jayhawks host in-state rival Kansas State at Allen Fieldhouse, at 7 p.m.
