Jayhawks finish pool play at the Big 12 Match Play Championship

HOUSTON – After two days and four rounds, the Kansas men’s golf team will await the final round of pool play of the Big 12 Match Play Championships at the Houston Oaks Golf Club on Sunday, Oct. 12, in Houston, Texas.

(7) Kansas has 10 total team points to lead Pool B, while (1) Texas Tech and (4) Texas lead Pool A with nine points each.

On the second day of match play, the Jayhawks tied with (10) Kansas State in the morning round and then went on to defeat (6) Oklahoma State in the afternoon to add four team points to its total.

Freshman Luke Kluver won his match against Oklahoma State 5&3 and against Kansas State 4&3. Kluver has won all four of his match-ups in his Big 12 Match Play Championship debut.

Junior Harry Hillier also went 4-0 in his match-ups from the past two days after defeating Kansas State 2&1 and Oklahoma State 3&2.

After falling in the morning round against Kansas State 3&2, junior Ben Sigel bounced back against Oklahoma State coming out on top 6&5 in his match-up.

The rest of the teams will finish its fourth sessions in the morning on Sunday, Oct. 12, while Kansas will sit and wait to see who its opponent will be in the finale.
