LAWRENCE, Kan. – As the Kansas football team continues to prepare for the 2020 season opener against Coastal Carolina Sept. 12 at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, KUAthletics.com will provide position breakdown coverage during preseason camp. Today’s position group is the special teams, featuring 10 Jayhawks.

Tabor Allen | 6-1 | 185 lbs | Freshman | Kicker | Mansfield, Texas
Allen, a freshman from Mansfield, Texas, was a letterwinner at Mansfield Lakeridge High School in football and soccer. He connected on 8-of-11 field gals while notching 42 touchbacks on kickoffs in 2020.

Liam Jones | 5-10 | 180 lbs | Senior | Kicker | Choctaw, Oklahoma
Jones, a senior from Choctaw, Oklahoma, finished 11-for-18 on field goal attempts last season and 26-for-30 on extra point attempts. He was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance against Texas Tech, hitting the game-winning, 32-yard field goal. Jones also tallied 52 kickoffs, totaling an average for 58.2 yards with 15 touchbacks.

Jacob Borcila | 6-2 | 177 lbs | R-Freshman | Kicker | Westerville, Ohio
Borcila, a redshirt-freshman from Westerville, Ohio, appeared in four games last season before redshirting. He tallied two kickoff attempts in 2019.

Cole Brungardt | 6-6 | 220 lbs | Junior | Kicker | Lawrence, Kansas
Brungardt, a junior from Lawrence, Kansas, redshirted his first season with the Jayhawks in 2017 and did not see action in 2018 or 2019. Prior to KU, Brungardt made 105-of-110 point after attempts over three seasons in high school.

Emory Duggar | 6-2 | 225 lbs | Freshman | Long Snapper | Baton Rough, Louisiana
Duggar, a freshman from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was a five-time letterwinner in football and lacrosse at Cathloic High School. He was named Special Team’s Player of the Year in 2019 by his high school.

Luke Hosford | 6-2 | 225 lbs | R-Freshman | Longs Snapper | Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
Hosford, a redshirt-freshman from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, made his first appearance as a Jayhawk at Oklahoma State, and earned his second game appearance at Iowa State.

Logan Klusman | 6-1 | 235 lbs | Senior | Long Snapper | Lafayette, Louisiana
Klusman, a senior from Lafayette, Louisiana, appeared in nine games last season as the Jayhawks’ primary long snapper, and recovered a fumble against Texas Tech to help KU beat the Red Raiders. Klusman took a redshirt in 2018 and saw action in the final eight games of the 2017 season as the team’s long snapper.

Reis Vernon | 6-2 | 190 lbs | Freshman | Punter | Bixby, Oklahoma
Vernon, a freshman from Bixby, Oklahoma, was named an Adidas All-American and Oklahoma District 6A-II-2 Special Teams Player of the Year.

Kyle Thompson | 6-4 | 222 lbs | Senior | Punter | El Cajon, California
Thompson, a senior from El Cajon, California, enters the 2020 season on the Ray Guy Award Preseason Watch List and was named Preseason All-Big 12 Second Team by Athlon. Thompson finished his junior campaign as Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and tallied 57 punts for an average of 44.5 yards per punt.

Donovan Gagen | 5-11 | 185 lbs | Senior | Punter/Kicker | Belleville, Illinois
Gagen, a senior from Belleville, Illinois, appeared in 10 games last season and recorded one punt for 42 yards.
