39 Jayhawks land on Academic All-Big 12 Track & Field Team
IRVING, Texas – Kansas track & field landed 39 student-athletes on the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Track & Field Team, highlighted by three Jayhawks that earned perfect 4.0 grade point averages, announced by the conference offices on Tuesday. In total, 320 student-athletes earned recognition on the Academic All-Big 12 Track & Field Team.
Jayhawks George Letner, Chris Melgares and Lisa Lauschke were three of the 44 Big 12 student-athletes to earn perfect 4.0 GPAs.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 GPA or better, while the second team selections hold 3.00 to 3.19 GPAs.
To qualify for the Academic All-Big 12 Track & Field Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulative or the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
