Alumni claim crown in seventh annual Floyd Temple Alumni Game

LAWRENCE, Kan. – A three-run third inning propelled the alumni to its fourth-straight victory over the current squad in the seventh-annual Floyd Temple Alumni Game Saturday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark.

Shaeffer Hall (2008-10) got the rally started in that third frame with a one-out double. Last year’s hero, Alex DeLeon (2010-13) followed with a RBI, before Robby Price (2007-10) roped a two-run double off the wall in right field.

Price finished the day 2-for-2 adding a single, while Hall earned the victory on the bump with three and 1/3 innings of work.

“Today is all about our alumni,” head coach Ritch Price said. “They paved the way for our current players. I want my current squad to understand they are great Jayhawks and how much they love this university and our program. It is always a fun day.”

Hall pitched a one-two-three inning in the second, and allowed two runs off three hits in his outing. Hayden Edwards entered with one out in the bottom of the fourth to pick up the save.

“They were hitting the ball all over the yard,” Ritch Price said. “Those guys still have a lot of talent and it was fun watching them back on the field.”
