LOADED – Light streaming through the east windows of the Anschutz Sports Pavilion bounced off the throw ring to illuminate KU shot putter George Evans as the freshman worked on his slide technique during practice on Tuesday, February 13. Evans will compete for the Jayhawks’ track & field team on Saturday, February 24, during the Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championship inside the Iowa State University Lied Recreation Center in Ames, Iowa.

DOUBLES VISION – The KU doubles team of juniors Anastasia Rychagova, smashing a volley, and Nina Khmelnitckaia worked in unison during its 6-3 No. 1 doubles victory in the match against Oregon inside the Jayhawk Tennis Center at Rock Chalk Park on Friday, February 16. KU defeated the No. T24 Ducks, 4-1.

SUNNY START – The KU baseball team was raring to go when, for the first time in the 126-year history of the Kansas baseball program, the Jayhawks opened the 2018 season with a home game on a brilliantly sunny day inside Hoglund Ballpark on Friday, February 16. The day turned even brighter after KU defeated Murray State, 5-3.

WARMING UP – Associate head coach Ryan Graves discussed pitching strategy with KU starting pitcher Jackson Goddard as the junior used the Rich Jantz Cardio Room inside the McCarthy Family Clubhouse at Hoglund Ballpark to keep warm while KU batted in the season-opening game against Murray State on Friday, February 16. Goddard threw five innings to pick up the win in the 5-3 victory.

SUPERMEN – In a surprise ending to the ESPN College GameDay Covered by State Farm show held inside Allen Fieldhouse before the West Virginia at Kansas men’s basketball game on Saturday, February 17, host Jay Williams first revealed his game pick by tearing open his shirt to reveal a Mountaineer jersey only to be chastised by eight-year-old Harrison Leiszler from Lawrence, playing the legendary James Naismith. The duo then revealed Kansas jerseys to close the show to the joy of the fans who later saw KU indeed defeat West Virginia, 77-69.
