Zagurski called back up to Major Leagues

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Milwaukee Brewers purchased the contract of Triple A pitcher and former Kansas baseball hurler Mike Zagurski, who rejoins the Major Leagues after a five-year hiatus.

Since his last MLB appearance on September 15, 2013, Zagurski has been an effective pitcher in the Minor Leagues as well as Japan.

Zagurski was a 12th-round Draft pick of Philadelphia in 2005 and appeared in the Major Leagues in 2007 and from 2010-13 with the Phillies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees. Zagurski has a 7.05 ERA in 89 appearances at the Major League level.

The call up to the show comes after Zagurski rejoined the Minor League circuit in 2017 and earned a spot with the Brewers’ Triple A affiliate Colorado Springs Sky Sox. In 32 games in 2018, Zagurski has logged a 3.90 ERA in 30 innings pitched, striking out 48 batters.
