Duncan Tabbed Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Big 12 Conference named senior right-handed pitcher Frank Duncan Big 12 Pitcher of the Week Monday afternoon, for his performance Sunday, Feb. 23 against Mississippi Valley State.
 
Duncan (1-0) threw 92 pitches, 71 for strikes, in seven and two-thirds innings of work, allowing just four hits and one earned run to go along with his 14 strikeouts against the Delta Devils. His dominating performance was a complete 180 from his first start, when he gave up 12 hits and seven runs in six and two-thirds innings against BYU.
 
In addition to the Big 12 honor, Duncan was also tabbed Collegiate Baseball Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week and is the first Jayhawk to earn that honor since Shaeffer Hall did so Feb. 24, 2009.
 
Kansas has now had a player earn conference recognition in two-consecutive weeks, as junior transfer third baseman Aaron Hernadez was named Co-Big 12 Newcomer of the Week (Feb. 17).
 
The Jayhawks are off to their best start since 2002 when to team won 10-straight to begin the season.
