ARIZONA SUNSET – As the day’s clouds began to dissipate at sunset, the sky over Arizona State’s Alberta B. Farrington Stadium lit up with brilliant colors as the KU softball team played Utah on Saturday, February 9, during the second day of the three-day Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona.
DROPPING ONE DOWN – Junior Sam Dellinger dropped down a bunt on a pitch thrown by associate head coach Rich Wieligman as the KU softball team warmed up for its first game against Oregon in Arizona State’s three-day Kajikawa Classic inside the Alberta B. SUNNY DAY – Under a brilliant sun Tempe, Arizona, head coach Jennifer McFalls addressed the KU softball team before the Jayhawks took on Oregon in the Jayhawks’ first game of the three-day Kajikawa Classic inside the Alberta B. Farrington Stadium in Tempe, Arizona, on Friday, February 8.
OLD SCHOOL – For KU’s final game in the three-day Kajikawa Classic, the softball team went old school with a return to softball’s roots by playing at the Tempe Sports Complex where the Jayhawks took on long-time border rival Missouri on Sunday, February 9 in Arizona.
THREE FACES OF NAS – In a multi-exposure, KU senior Anastasia Rychagova, known as “Nas” to her teammates, returned a serve during the Jayhawks’ victory over Nebraska inside the Jayhawk Tennis Center on Wednesday, February 6.
CELEBRATING BLACK CULTURE – As part of the adidas Harlem Renaissance collection, KU freshman Ochai Agbaji was introduced inside Allen Fieldhouse wearing an alternate uniform giving off the impression of a ballroom dance floor on Saturday, February 9. Both the men’s and women’s team wore uniforms and shooting shirts in Saturday’s games that celebrated black culture.
BALL TIME – Baseballs were dropped into a ball cage as the KU baseball team took batting practice inside the Rich Jantz Player Development Center on Sunday, February 3 at Hoglund Ballpark. Warmer weather allowed the Jayhawks a chance to scrimmage ahead of opening the 2019 season with a four-game series against South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina, February 15-18.
