πŸ† Chen Wins 3-Meter Championship on Day One of Tiger Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Jiayu Chen led the way for the Kansas dive team on day one of the Tiger Invite on Wednesday. The freshman claimed the 3-meter championship after posting a 332.70 total score in the finals.

"Good first day of our mid-season invite. Certainly, we are happy overall with the outcomes. But more than that it was very informative for our divers. The value in this meet is in validating what is working and informing what needs improvement. It served us well in all regards and we hope and expect the next two days to go similarly."

The victory gives Chen her fourth straight first-place finish in the event and her seventh overall top finish of the year.

Peri Charapich finished with the second-highest score for Kansas on the day, totaling 259.20 points. After placing 16th in the preliminary round, the senior was able to move up the standings in the consol final to place 11th overall.

Sophomore Allison Grass finished third for the Jayhawks with a 192.00 total score while freshman Amanda Fingerut rounded out the Kansas foursome with a 184.15 final score.

Next Up

The divers will next compete in the 1-meter event on Thursday, Nov. 21, to finish out the Tiger Invite. Meanwhile, the KU swimmers will be hosting the three-day Kansas Classic beginning on Friday, Nov. 22, in Topeka, Kan.
