Two-Minute Drill: Football is Back!

Welcome to the Two-Minute Drill where readers get an inside look to the Kansas football program during fall camp with the Jayhawks. Each day highlights some aspect of practice, players who are #EarningIt and show you some of the team behind closed doors.

The Anderson Family Football Complex was buzzing with energy Wednesday as head coach David Beaty and his staff welcomed 105 players to fall camp. Most of the guys had been on a short five-day break as summer classes ended July 30, while a couple of players were arriving in Lawrence for the first time.

The Jayhawks got settled into their camp living quarters, met with the training staff for some physical examinations and checked out equipment before sitting down for a team meeting late in the afternoon. After hearing from several departments who work closely with the football program, the players and staff ended the day with a team dinner before preparing for Thursday, which includes the first official practice of the 2015 season.

Dinner did not disappoint as the team dined on spiced and broiled shrimp, prime rib, cajun chicken breast, grilled corn on the cob, asparagus and ice cream among other delicious options.

KU hits the practice fields for the first time Thursday afternoon before it holds its first full-pad practice on Tuesday, Aug. 11. All practices are closed to the public with the exception of Fan Appreciation Day, which is slated for Saturday, Aug. 8 in Memorial Stadium.
