Former Kansas Standout Kyle Moore-Brown Selected for Induction into the Arena Football League Hall of Fame

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Former Kansas football standout Kyle Moore-Brown was one of four players announced as selections for the Arena Football League Hall of Fame Class of 2014 by AFL Commissioner Jerry B. Kurz Sunday evening. With his selection, Moore-Brown will forever be enshrined in Arena Football League history.

“It is a true honor to be chosen,” said Moore-Brown. “I could not even sleep after hearing the news. To receive such great news, it was hard to soak it all in. I was around my family when I heard my name called and to be with the people you know and love made it special.”

Moore-Brown, who played on both the offensive and defensive lines during his 15-year AFL career, was a three-time All-Ironman selection, a two-time ArenaBowl champion and the AFL record holder for most-consecutive starts at 236 games.

A three-year letterwinner at defensive tackle for Kansas from 1990-92, Moore-Brown helped guide the Jayhawks to an 8-4 overall mark in 1992, capped by a 23-20 victory over BYU in the Aloho Bowl.

“I never wanted to be average,” said Moore-Brown of his career in the AFL. “I wanted to be the best and through hard work and overcoming adversity, God saw it fit for me to be placed in the Hall of Fame.”

In addition to Moore-Brown, the 2014 Arena Football Hall of Fame Class includes: FB/LB Andre Bowden, a three-time ArenaBowl champion and All-Arena selection; WR Damian Harrell, a five-time All-Arena selection, two-time Offensive Player of the Year and the League’s all-time receiving leader; and DS Omarr Smith, a four-time ArenaBowl champion who holds the record for most career ArenaBowl tackles.

The selection process for this year’s Hall of Fame Class began in June, when the Arena Football Hall of Fame Advisory Board, a group which consisted of former executives, journalists and media personnel with a long-time involvement in the game, narrowed the list of eligible candidates down to ten finalists. Fans then had the opportunity to vote throughout the months of June and July, while current Arena Football Hall of Fame members submitted their official ballots during the final week of the 2014 regular season. All votes were then turned in to the Hall of Fame Operating Board of Directors, who officially determined the 2014 Arena Football Hall of Fame Class.

The formal Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held during the 2015 Arena Football League season.
