Ferguson headed to Pan American U20 Championship

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas track & field student-athlete Treyvon Ferguson is set to compete in the Pan American U20 Championship at Estadio Nacional in San Jose, Costa Rica, July 18-21.

Coming off a successful freshman campaign donning the Crimson and Blue, Ferguson then competed at the United States Track & Field U20 Outdoor Championships in June, where he claimed the men’s triple jump title on his first attempt down the runway with a mark of 16.13 meters (52-11.00 ft.) (wind 2.0).

In the end, that jump gave Ferguson the crown by three centimeters and made him the top teenage triple jumper in the USA. With his win, Ferguson earned a spot on Team USATF to this weekend’s Pan American Junior Championships, where he is one of two Americans in the field of 12 men’s triple jumpers scheduled to vie for the title.

Ferguson is scheduled compete in the triple jump on Sunday, July 21 at 12:10 p.m. (CDT). He will be going up against athletes from Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Brasil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, two from Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as USA teammate Jamar Davis.
