Folds of Honor

At select Kansas games, a Folds of Honor scholarship recipient attending KU will be recognized. Folds of Honor provides life changing scholarships to the families of American Heroes who protect our freedoms and our families. February 3rd, 2024, KU vs Houston: Lane Neuman

Lane Neuman is currently a sophomore at a private school in Topeka, Kansas. Some of his interests include soccer, basketball, and golf.

Lane is the proud son of United States Army Specialist Jennifer McFarlane. Jennifer served our country for eleven years. She worked as a Civil Affairs Specialist and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. SPC McFarlane received many awards and decorations for her service including the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ M Device.

December 5th, 2023, KU vs Kansas City: TJ Robinson

TJ Robinson is currently a senior track athlete at the University of Kansas. He is majoring in Accounting and Finance, and his goal after graduation is to excel in the business world.

TJ is the proud son of United States Army Lt. Col. Terry Robinson. Terry initially served with the 82nd Airborne for four years, then transferred to Military Police, serving more than twenty-five years total, with four years being foreign service in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He was awarded the Bronze Service Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Service Medal (5th Award), Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), and the Army Superior Unit Award. Terry holds a degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Adult Education. He is currently a senior military analyst contractor at Ft. Leavenworth, KS.

November 28th, 2023, KU vs Eastern Illinois: Tyler Archie

Tyler Archie is currently a sophomore at the University of Kansas and is originally from Allen, Texas. He is majoring in Sports Management and Marketing, and his goal after graduation is to work in the front office for a major league sports team.

Tyler is the proud son of United States Marine Corps Sergeant Major, Paul Archie. Paul served our country for twenty-four years. He deployed on multiple tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Paul received many awards and decorations for his service including the Bronze Star Medal with Combat Valor, Meritorious Service Medal (2), and USMC Commendation Medal.

November 18th, 2023, KU vs Kansas State: Emma Shockey

Emma Shockey is currently a sophomore at the University of Kansas and is originally from Shawnee, Kansas. She is majoring in Film and Media Studies and her goal after graduation is to pursue a career utilizing her degree.

Emma is the proud daughter of United States Army Sergeant First Class Frederick Shockey III. Frederick served our country for eleven years. As a Personnel Service Specialist and Track Vehicle Repairer, he was stationed in South Korea, Germany, Texas, Louisiana, Kosovo, and at Fort Riley. Fredrick received many awards and decorations for his service including the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal (3), and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

November 11th, 2023, KU vs Texas Tech: Grace Burton

Grace Burton is currently a Junior at the University of Kansas and is originally from Paola, Kansas. She is majoring in Interior Architecture and is a member of the KU chapter of the International Interior Design Association. Her goal is to earn a master’s degree in architecture and she hopes to own a design-build firm.

Grace is the proud daughter of United States Navy Petty Officer Third Class, Robin Burton. Robin served our country for four years. As a System Organization Maintenance Technician, he was stationed aboard the USS Independence and the USS Midway. He deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War. Robin received many awards and decorations for his service including the National Defense Service Medal, Letter of Commendation, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

November 10th, 2023, KU vs Manhattan: Ryan Larsen

Ryan Larsen is currently a senior at the University of Kansas and is originally from Hollywood, South Carolina. She is majoring in Psychology and her goal after graduation is to pursue a career utilizing her degree.

Ryan is the proud daughter of United States Army Colonel, Michael Larsen. Michael served our country for twenty-nine years. As a member of the Infantry, he deployed on multiple tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He received many awards and decorations for his service including the Bronze Star Medal (3), Legion of Merit (3), Meritorious Service Medal (3), and Army Commendation Medal (4).

October 28th, 2023, KU vs Oklahoma: Connor Wisecup

Connor Wisecup is currently a Junior at the University of Kansas and is originally from Gardner, Kansas. He is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Law and Society. His goal is to work in law enforcement, specifically in a position applying his specialty in psychology.

Connor is the proud son of United States Air Force Senior Airman, Eric Wisecup. Eric served our country for five years, and he specialized in Defensive Fire Control Systems and was stationed at Wurt Smith Air Force Base. He received many awards and decorations for his service including the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon.

October 7, 2023, KU vs UCF: Matthew Stephen

Matthew Stephen is a sophomore at the University of Kansas and is originally from Overland Park, Kansas. He is majoring in Aerospace Engineering and his goal is to pursue a career as an aerospace engineer. He wants to work on meaningful projects that are important to our society.

Matthew is the proud son of United States Army Lieutenant Colonel Tad Stephen. Tad proudly served our country for 22 years. As an Armor Officer, he deployed on multiple tours supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Lt Col. Stephen received many awards and decorations for his service including two Bronze Stars, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal.

September 23, 2023, KU vs BYU: Layla English

Layla English is a sophomore at the University of Kansas and is majoring in Musical Theater. Her goal with this degree is to one day perform on Broadway and act in movies. She is currently in the Jayhawk Marching Band and participates in many other extracurricular activities including theater groups, KU Choir, school plays, and book club. She also owns her own knitting business, and will donate items to NICU babies at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Even while participating in all of these activities, she still finds time to volunteer at Harvesters packing food for children and the elderly. Layla is the proud daughter of US Army E-7 Sergeant First Class Ellis English.

Sergeant Ellis English was a US Army combat engineer for over 15 years. He was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq and was awarded the following medals: Afghanistan Campaign with 2 stars, Iraq Campaign with 3 stars, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with V Device, Army Achievement, Meritorious Service, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, and Korea Defense Service Medal. He is currently retired from the miliary, and lives in Washington. Ellis was able to complete his undergrad degree after retiring from the military and now works for the GSA.

September 8, 2023, KU vs Illinois: Savanna Cavanaugh

Savanna Cavanaugh is in her third year at the University of Kansas studying Sport Management and Business. Through her experience of being an intramural sports program manager, she has found her passion for creating student engagement that supports mental and physical health. She hopes to attend graduate school and become a graduate assistant to gain experience in establishing and running wellness programs. To improve the student experience, her long-term goal is to become a Provost. Savanna is the proud daughter of Master Sergeant Steven Cavanaugh.

United States Army Master Sergeant Steven Cavanaugh served our country for over fourteen years. He joined the Army upon graduating from Juniata College in 1996. With advanced individual and specialized training, he served in Korea, Germany, Hawaii, Fort Meade, and Fort Riley. MSgt Cavanaugh completed two deployments to Iraq. From May 2003-July 2004, he served as the Platoon Sergeant for 1st Armored Division’s Collection and Jamming Platoon, and then in his second combat deployment to Iraq (March 2008-March 2009), he served as a Military Advisor to the Iraqi Army. MSgt Cavanaugh was awarded two Bronze Stars and the Meritorious Service Medal. He currently works as a civilian Intelligence Operations Specialist with the Intelligence and Security Command.
