LAWRENCE, Kan. – Competition propelled Kansas football through practice No. 16 of Fall Camp on the grass practice fields south of Anschutz Pavilion Thursday morning.

The Jayhawks reveled in the heat through the first session of practice that included a special teams emphasis and a blitz period. After the break, head coach David Beaty huddled his team and set up a friendly special teams competition – offense against the defense.

Kickers Matthew Wyman and Gabriel Rui each took turns at a field goal progression representing each side of the ball. Beaty then called upon non-kickers and coaches alike to try their shot at sinking it through the uprights – offense wins.

That competition paved the way for an upbeat and up-tempo team period to conclude the day’s lone practice.

The Jayhawks hit the gridiron again Friday, August 19, inside Memorial Stadium.
