Defense named CBS Sports Defensive Player of the Week

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas defensive back Hasan Defense was named the CBS Sports Defensive Player of the Week presented by ADT for his performance against the No. 9/8 West Virginia Mountaineers on October 6.
 
Defense tallied seven tackles (five solo) and two interceptions in the 38-22 loss to the Mountaineers on Saturday. His first interception came in the first quarter, picking off WVU’s Will Grier in the end zone and returning it 28 yards to prevent the Mountaineers from taking a three-score lead.
 
His second interception occurred in the second quarter, when he again picked off Grier in the end zone, this time returning it 60 yards before being pulled down by the WVU quarterback.
 
Defense and the Jayhawks have a bye week before returning to action at Texas Tech on October 20. The game against the Red Raiders is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and will be televised on FS1.
