Exciting Homecoming Weekend Coming to Lawrence Oct. 6-7

 LAWRENCE, Kan. – In conjunction with KU Alumni Association, Kansas Athletics will celebrate the University of Kansas’ 105th Homecoming culminating in the Jayhawks’ football game against Texas Tech on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m., in Memorial Stadium.
 
Kansas head coach David Beaty and the Jayhawks will host TTU in the two teams’ second Big 12 contest of the 2017 season. KU will prepare to host the Red Raiders fresh off its bye week, while Texas Tech will trek to Lawrence after hosting Oklahoma State in Lubbock in TTU’s Big 12 opener Saturday, Sept. 30.
 
Tickets for the Homecoming game versus Texas Tech are available by contacting the Kansas Sales Team via phone at 800-34-HAWKS or in-person at the Allen Fieldhouse ticket office. Tickets may also be purchased via KUTickets.com.
 
Prior to the actual Homecoming game against the Red Raiders, several fun events are available for alums, current students and Jayhawk fans of all ages.
 
Meet & Greet with Kansas Athletics
4-5 p.m.
South Park

Stop by South Park on the east side of Massachusetts Street on Friday, Oct. 6 from 4-5 p.m., to meet and take pictures with the KU Spirit Squad. Kansas Athletics will provide a bounce house and yard games for kids and families.
 
Homecoming Parade
6 p.m.
Massachusetts St.

The traditional Homecoming Parade takes place on Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence. The parade, which is centered around the 2017 Homecoming theme of “Jayhawks of the Galaxy,” begins at South Park and includes floats, vehicles and banners from KU student groups and organizations. Ex.C.E.L. finalists will be showcased in the parade led by the Marching Jayhawks.
 
LIVE on MASS: KU Homecoming Kickoff (Homecoming Pep Rally and Concert)
6 p.m. gates open, 7:45 p.m. pep rally

Join fellow Jayhawks for a free KU pep rally and concert after the Homecoming Parade. Enjoy special appearances by Beaty, the KU Spirit Squad and pep band starting at 7:45 p.m. Stick around for live music featuring William Clark Green with appearances by Sean McConnell and Ryan Manual. In addition to football hosting Texas Tech on Saturday, Oct. 7, several other Kansas teams will have home events during the weekend. The KU soccer team will play host to the first-ever Dillons Sunflower Showdown against rival Kansas State on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m., at Rock Chalk Park. Fans attending the match can pick up a limited edition 2017 Kansas soccer scarf, while supplies last.
 
Prior to the contest, a Far Post Tailgate will take place at Rock Chalk Park, with inflatables, music, food trucks and more. KU soccer will also be celebrating Alumni Day, with Jayhawk soccer alums being recognized during pre-game ceremonies.
 
Additionally, a bus will provide transportation for KU students to and from Rock Chalk Park from the residence halls on Daisy Hill starting at 5:45 p.m., and free pizza will be available to all KU students while supplies last. 
 
The Jayhawk women’s swimming and diving team will welcome Liberty University to Lawrence for a two-day meet. Action will take place at the Robinson Natatorium on Friday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m., and again on Saturday at 11 a.m. KU swimming and diving will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday. Admission is free.
 
Kansas softball will welcome College of Saint Mary (10 a.m.) and Cowley County (12:30 p.m.) for fall ball exhibition games at Rock Chalk Park. Admission is free.
 
Also on tap for Saturday is the Kansas Baseball alumni game, which is set for 4 p.m., at Hoglund Ballpark, with batting practice starting at 3 p.m.
