Jayhawk Insider: Todd Reesing's top-5 plays, according to him

LAWRENCE, Kan. – In honor of Kansas great Todd Reesing being inducted into the KU Football Ring of Honor on Saturday, September 15 when the Jayhawks take on Rutgers, “The Gunslinger” himself picked his five favorite plays from his career. This is them:

No. 5 // October 28, 2006

Making his collegiate debut in the middle of the season his freshman year, Reesing showed Jayhawk Nation a glimpse of what was to come in the near future. The rookie ended the game with 106 yards passing and two touchdowns, completing 7-of-11 attempts and netted 90 yards rushing and one touchdown. A large chunk of his rushing yards – 63 to be exact – came on this run, which would end up being the longest run of his Jayhawk career. KU went on to beat Colorado 20-15.

Still blows me away that my longest run of my career came in my first game. The fact that I couldn’t get two more yards for the score still kills me.

No. 4 // September 20, 2008

In a 38-14 win over Sam Houston State on his 21st birthday, Reesing racked up 356 yards passing and two touchdowns on a 23-for-38 effort and notched 17 yards on the ground and one score. This play ended up being No. 1 on SportsCenter’s top-10 the next morning.

On my 21st birthday and #1 play on the ESPN Top 10. Always loved that juke and the crow hop into the pass. One hell of a way to celebrate a birthday!!

Although the Jayhawks were unable to top Nebraska in the game, Reesing threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 35 yards and another score. Looking like he was going to be sacked, Reesing bounced off the Nebraska defender, stayed up and found Kerry Meier for the touchdown.

This is probably my favorite play of all time. That CB thought he could just knock me down and not wrap up. I had other plans….for 6.
