Movie Night in Memorial Stadium presented by Boston Financial Voting

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Athletics will open Memorial Stadium on Thursday, June 1 for the third-consecutive year for fans to bring their blankets and pillows and enjoy a free movie on the stadium video board as it is hosting Movie Night at Memorial Stadium presented by Boston Financial. 

The gates for Movie Night at Memorial Stadium will open at 5 p.m., and admission is free. Attendees will be able to enjoy the Fun Zone, which includes inflatable games, at the north end of Kivisto Field from 5-6:45 p.m., while the movie will start at 7 p.m.  A variety of concession items will be available for purchase throughout the evening, and all guests will be allowed to bring in one unopened bottle of water. 
 
Seating for the movie will be available on Kivisto Field with guests encouraged to bring their own pillows and blankets. Chairs will not be allowed on the playing surface. Bleacher and limited mobility seating will also be available in Memorial Stadium.
 
As for what movie will be shown, fans will make that determination, as they will vote between three movies. In 2016 fans selected “Minions” and around 1,500 turned out to watch.  The inaugural movie night saw “The Lego Movie” played in 2015.
 
Voting will begin on Monday, April 17 and conclude on Sunday, April 30 at 5 p.m. Fans can vote by going http://kuathletics.com/movie. By casting their vote, fans will also be entered to win four tickets to the 2017 Kansas Football home game of their choice.  Fans can only vote one time and will choose between the following three movie options:
 
“Monsters University” is a 2013 computer-animated comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.  A prequel to Monsters, Inc. the film tells the story of two monsters, Mike and Sulley, and their time studying at college. Vote Here
 
“The Lion King” is a 1994 animated epic musical film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation.  The film takes place in a kingdom of lions in Africa and tells the story of Simba who grows up in exile with best friends Timon and Pumbaa before returning to Pride Rock to take his rightful place as the King of the Pride Lands. “Inside Out” is a 2015 computer-animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.  The film is set in the mind of a young girl named Riley, where five personified emotions – Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust – try to lead her through life as she moves across the country with her parents and adjust to her new surroundings.
