Jayhawk tandem reaches Oracle ITA National Summer Championships Final

FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of Kansas senior doubles tandem of Nina Khmelnitckaia and Janet Koch as day two of doubles play continued at the Oracle ITA National Summer Championships.
 
The Jayhawks paired up Monday afternoon to win another doubles match to reach the tournament’s final. In their semifinals match, Khmelnitckaia and Koch defeated Meghan Kelley and Anna Rogers, 8-2.
 
In singles play, Khmelnitckaia knocked out University of California Berkeley’s Olivia Hauge 6-2, 6-2, in the singles quarterfinals match. However, the Moscow, Russia native’s success ran just short of the final round of competition, as she was defeated by the University of Wisconsin’s Sara Castellano, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2.
 
Action continues on Tuesday from Fort Worth as Khmelnitckaia and Koch will play in the women’s doubles final against the University of Wisconsin tandem Sara Castellano and Lexi Keberle at 12 p.m.
