Jayhawks are set for the Big 12 Match Play Championship

HOUSTON, Texas – The Kansas men’s golf team was selected as the seven seed in Pool B for the Big 12 Match Play Tournament from October 11-13. The tournament is set to be played at Houston Oaks Golf Club and features a 7,007-yard, par-71 course.

"The golf course is really good for match play. There are a lot of birdie holes. It’ll be exciting and I think the guys are really fired up."

Head Coach Jamie Bermel

The Big 12 Match Play Tournament will begin on Friday, Oct. 11, with two-and-a-half days of pool play. Pool play will be separated into two groups (Pool A and B) and the winner of each round will earn three points, while a draw will be worth one point.

Following the fifth round on Sunday morning, the team with the most points of each pool will play head-to-head on Sunday afternoon for the title. The second-place teams from each pool will play for third and fourth, while the third-place pool finishers play for fifth and sixth and so on.

"There will be a lot of strategy. You could play really well and get beat or you can play poorly and win."

Head Coach Jamie Bermel

The Jayhawks will face (2) Oklahoma on Friday morning and (3) Baylor in the afternoon. Saturday morning, Kansas will play (10) Kansas State followed by (6) Oklahoma State in the afternoon to finish pool play.
