Jayhawks Fall to Bears in Waco

WACO, Texas –ย Kansas volleyball was unable to pull off the upset against No. 3 Baylor on Wednesday, falling in straight sets inside the Ferrell Center.

After falling in the first set to the Bears, the Jayhawks were looking to even up the match in the second set, and held a 24-21 advantage. Baylor called a timeout in an attempt to stop the Kansas momentum, and BU came out of the break winning the final five points.

The final set of the match was controlled early on by Baylor, who held a 16-5 advantage. Kansas called a timeout and the momentum started swinging KU’s way.

After a 6-1 scoring run Kansas was close, and the Jayhawks moved to within five points after a net violation by BU. Baylor ultimately earned the set victory 25-18, winning the three-set match.

Senior Ashley Smith finished with a team-high 10 kills, while Morgan Christon added with nine kills. Senior Allie Nelson contributed 11 digs on the night and Sara Nielsen finished with 22 assists.
